Depart

Roaring. Air rushing through the bladed gauntlet, surely ending in amazing cataclysm, only to burst forth in confusion.
Lights below. Spanning into the coordinate plane. Blues and oranges. Miniature suns of microscopic systems. patterns making no patterns.

Clouds interspersed. As though the universe all at once wavered, blinked thinking of what it all may even be worth. Unknowing.

A new sea forms: white and continuous, gaseous yet opaque. An orange slice hangs above. Casting itself onto the second calm sea. Solid, flowing, and infinite.

Islands. The cinders of progress glow softly. stoked by the sweat of man has this fire slowly caught. Reaching out to one another to set the world ablaze.

What I'm Up To

Figured it was time for one of these.

-I'm still selling some gear.

-I've been to a few shows that I didn't play at, which rarely happens unfortunately. Androcles & The Lion are good friends of mine and I caught them on Friday. Always a great set. I try to see Easter Island every chance I get because a) they're great and b) they're all awesome friends so I actually get to see them all in one place. Mr. Mustache rules. Fact.

-I went to see Tycho at the GA Theatre. Sick. Rory kills it on drums. He'll be playing with Com Truise when they come through ATL. Don't miss that shia.

-Gigs with: White Violet, Monahan, The Viking Progress

-I've got a jazz gig with my friends Jon Cathey and Nathan Pillsbury in Cumming on the 13th. It's at a festival...but that's all I know.

-18" hi-hats. That's what's up.

-I bought a Dunnett Snare......

-I got a couple of new students (finally)

-I've been working on a huge variety of stuff: New Breed, Language of Drumming, Syncopation, Stick Control, learning a boatload of songs that I may record and put on youtube.

-I'm going to take some lessons with Brian Stephens, a great drummer in ATL. Everyone needs someone to help them focus and hold them accountable. I'm actually really, really excited about it.

-pacificUV is finishing up studio stuff. Technically, the drums are done lest there be overdubs.

-Doctor Who and I need to play some catch-up.

-The Newsroom is a fantastic show.

-Hopefully, I'll have the sunroof repaired in the Mercedes soon, which means there will be some driving. Still gotta fix those pesky dash lights...

-I broke my personal best mileage in the Tardiswagon: 50.26 mpg w/ 847.1 miles on a tank

So that's what is up.

Gear Sellin'

I'm trying to clean up and I'm selling some stuff that just isn't getting used:

-AHA 10" Snare. Maple snare in a clear, hard lacquer finish. Great shape. POPCORN! $60

-Sabian 8" AAX Splash. Excellent shape. Great solid little splash. $40

-Pearl 13" Firecracker Piccolo Snare. Really easy snare. Solid pop. Excellent shape. $50

-M-Audio Delta 1010. Works fine. Real nice. $150

-70's Ludwig Vistalite 13" Tom Shell. No hardware except vent/badge. It's got some lighter scuffing. $20

-AHA Brass 5x13 Snare. Really great snare. Thin rolled brass shell. $120

-Mapex MyDentity Kit 16x26, 16x18, 16x16, 9x13, 7x14 snare in White Camo (Oyster) finish. Really nice tone. Upgraded heads all around and wires (on snare). White Kickport included. Ahead Armor bag included for 26" kick. Less than 6 months old. Maple shells. $1000

-80's Peavy 4x12 bass cab w/o speakers. I had plans for it, but I just don't have time. $20 obo.

-Pearl Q-Popper Marc Quinones 12" Snare w/ mount. $80

-Pearl 6.5x14 Free-Floating snare w/ one-ply Sapele Mahogany shell. Natural stain. Diecast hoops. 42-strand wires. I set it up to sound a lot like a Dunnett and I think I got pretty close. Fantastic snare. $225

-Paiste Twenty Series 14" hi-hat top. Great shape. Bright but with warmth and a looseness. $80

-Keller 20" deep x 16" diameter maple 10-ply shell. Untouched. $80

-SKB 18x22 Roto-X Bass Drum Hard Case. Some separation of the liner from the case, but otherwise great condition. $150 or I'll trade for a 14x20, 16x20, or 14x24 SKB Roto-X case

-SKB 12x14 Roto-X Tom Hard Case. Great shape. $70

-SKB 10x12 Roto-X Tom Hard Case. Also in great shape. $60

-Gretsch Full Range Rosewood 8x14 snare. I love this snare. I have used it on so many recordings and gigs, but it was always in a case and is in EXCELLENT condition. Soooooo fat. Really, really great snare. Why am I selling it? Because I have another 8x14 that is just as amazing with more sentimental value. $400

-DW5000 LEFTY Double Pedal. Fantastic shape. Great feeling pedal. No bag/case. $225

I'm sure I'll be putting more stuff up here in the very near future. If it's still on here, odds are good that it hasn't sold. I can get ya pics if you'd like and feel free to make me an offer. Just email me: lemuel[at]lemuelhayes[dot]com
